Mp3 Downloads using FireFox and DownLoad Helper

Download mp3, mp4 and other media files in a few simple steps.

Requirements

Assuming you have installed FireFox, go ahead and get downloadHelper and install the plugin.

That is it!

Next you need to find the media files. You can use online playlists like mixtape, or mp3 search engines like sadsteve.

The cool thing about DownloadHelper is that it recognizes media files on the pages as soon as firefox loads the page.

All you need to do is save the file to your local machine and you are done!

Downloadhelper can also convert media file formats. That is another topic for another post.

Consider donating or purchasing the upgrade version of DownloadHelper to help keep the good software updated and maintained.

For those of you who are still wondering whether it is your V551 phone or battery that is bad, you are not alone because many people are having the same problem. A few people that I know have had no problems with their V551's battery life.
One possible problem with the phone may the back light. Some phone's back lights tend to stay on and this may be killing the battery quickly. I just hope Motorola is going to fix the problems with these phones, so If you have been having these problems, check your back light and see your cingular rep to help you with the problem.
Some cingular people say the problem may be signal strength is poor but I have been using my other Nokia without problems in the same basic areas and I dont have to charge the Nokia for at least 10 days (and I use it often).

Add Anonymity to your browser

For your privacy you may want to surf the web anonymously and the easiest and cheapest way to do this is by using swithproxy in mozilla firefox.

Download switchproxy for firefox and once installed restart the browser and you will see a tool bar where you can turn on and off the proxy.

You will need to add anonymous proxy servers to your proxy list.You can get a list of anonymous proxy servers at the steganos site.
Save the list as a text file and go to your fire fox proxy tool bar (options, preferences, manage proxies) to add this list of servers. Set the time interval to switch and you are good to go.

To test the anonymity of a proxy server search for anonymous proxy server test software. Some websites have server addresses that have been recently tested so you can get your list of servers there.

Speed Up Fire fox

forevergeek.com has a guide on speeding up firefox for broadband users. basically after getting to the hidden config settings you set the browser to request more data that it usually does.

1.Type “about:config” into the address bar and hit enter and look for the following entries:

network.http.pipelining network.http.proxy.pipelining network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.

2. Change the entries as follows:

Set “network.http.pipelining” to “true”

Set “network.http.proxy.pipelining” to “true”

Set “network.http.pipelining.maxrequests” to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.

3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it “nglayout.initialpaint.delay” and set its value to “0”. This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives.

If you are on a broadband connection you will load pages faster now that you have made these changes.

How to increase your website traffic for free

Getting your website up and running is the first step towards getting web presence.
Once you site is up and running you will need to have it crawled by search engines and this can take upto about 8 weeks. There are various search engines that you can submit your url for example:

Some search engines require that you pay, I do not want to pay for the search engines to index my site. So I really want free stuff. The idea is to have one of the search engines to crawl your website and index it.
Once you have been indexed by at least one of the major search engines, then you will 'found' by the other ones easily.
I had to manually add my site to about 6 search engines and the results were good. After one day, I had already been crawled, I also asked web masters with high traffic to add my website link to their site this help me be found easily.
So all it means is that you need to do some tedious digging on google and yahoo to promote your site if you want to do it for free.
Also ask your friends to visit your website and keep it posted on a regular basis to ensure your visitors come back.

To create your own Mp3 ring tones all you need is an mp3 encoder program that will allow you to create short compressed clips of your favorite songs. There are many free programs out on the internet if you dont have one on your computer. Search on google for these programs.

Once you have created the ring tones and saved them, just send them to your cell phone and you can now enjoy your ring tones.

To get free ring tones you can search on google for mp3 ringtones or polyphonic ringtones etc and right click on the files and save to your computer.

Using Bluetooth with Cell Phone

Once you have your bluetooth devices installed and working, you should be able to see all your devices when you go to the bluetooth settings. For example on your computer you should be able to see the cell phone and on your cell phone you should be able to see the computers name.

To transfer pics to computer all you need to do is go to the picture and high light it, the cell phone gives an option to send to your bluetooth devices. Select the computers name and hit send. The pics or tones for that matter will be in the bluetooth Exchange folder in your computer.

To send ring tones (or photos) to your phone, download or create your own ringtones, make sure they are compressed enough to fit your phone and then drag and drop them into your bluetooth exchange folder in your computer, you will then see the file transfer.

I have the Motorola V551 model with bluetooth and so far I have been successful using the bluetooth functionality to transfer ringtones from my computer to the cell phone, i have also transferred picture files to and from the phone successfully.
You can find lots of free ringtones online when you search on google, but be carefull some websites do charge even though they may say they are free.
I am yet to find free java games for my phone but I am still searching for them. I just haven't had the time to do so.

Bluetooth adapter installation on Windows XP SP2

For those of you who have been having problems with installation of bluetooth adapters with Windows XP SP2. I have the solution for you.

First thing you want to do is make sure that it is compatible with Windows XP.
Do NOT plug in the USB adapter before installation of the software!
Begin software installation and follow the prompts.
Plug in the Adapter when windows says it cannot find a USB adapter and wait for it to configure the adapter click Ok when it says it is installed and ready for use. Continue with installation to the end. You will see the at the top left of the screen some automatic windows installation boxes, just let it finish till the end.
After installation is complete click on the My Blue tooth places icon in the system tray and turn on the device(s) you want to connect and set them in Discoverable mode so that your computer will find them(it).
You should see the device show up and you can enjoy your bluetooth experience.
